Learning to live with lymphedema; ‘A New Me’ is an 11 minute video freely available on the Living with Lymphedema YouTube channel. The video features interviews with women and men who completed cancer treatment and who now live with lymphedema. The interviewees were participants in a study that piloted a psychosocial hope and coping intervention for people with upper or lower limb lymphedema after cancer. The video also features Drs. Ryan Hamilton and Roanne Thomas who developed and piloted the intervention which consists of a series of workshops and the handbook (provided in this toolkit). They discuss hope as a relevant concept for alleviating the negative impact of cancer and other chronic conditions such as secondary lymphedema. The interviewees reflect on their participation in the Learning to Live with Lymphedema Workshops. They also share practical information about lymphedema and discuss coping strategies. This video is intended for those living with lymphedema, as well as health professionals.
